The Excel Center in Fort Worth is a specialized day treatment center meeting the emotional, behavioral and/or chemical dependency needs of children and adolescents ages 5 to 18. We offer partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs Monday through Friday. An affiliate of Millwood Hospital, the Excel Center is a less restrictive treatment environment than an inpatient facility.
Sometimes symptoms of serious problems can be similar enough to normal behavior that parents might not recognize the difference. Agitation, temper tantrums, fussy eating, sadness or restless sleep patterns are not unusual behaviors in children. However the following behaviors could be a cry for help:
- Withdrawing from friends and family
- Purposely hurting themselves
- Extreme sadness that interferes with normal activities
- Acting with opposition/defiance to authority
- Severe disruptive behaviors in school
- Truancy
- Drug use
- Violent behaviors
When serious problems become apparent, The Excel Center is a resource for parents who need help for their child. Please remember, if your child exhibits suicidal or homicidal behaviors, seek immediate help and supervise him or her closely.
